Nurse's Aide training program focusing on long-term care through classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, as well as a 12-week

Launched in 2009, Parent University was created as the primary strategy to build the capacity of parents to be actively engaged in their child's education. The goal of the program is to "educate and empower parents as partners, advocates and lifelong teachers in their child's education through educational courses and leadership opportunities."

The first event of the Parent University series is the STEM Conference on December 6th. This hands-on conference is designed for parents and children to learn about the amazing world of science, technology, engineering, and math and the many ways we are affected by it in our daily lives and the careers associated with it.

Community connectedness is a key component in fostering community resiliency, and can be thought of as establishing social bonds between individuals and families, as well as between community members and community organizations. In our pilot study on
CONtexts, a free text messaging service that promotes child and family wellness by providing current information about community resources on health and nearby fun, we found that caregivers who received these texts
were nearly 4 times more likely to report supportive neighborhood programs and were also less likely to report fair/poor self-rated health.
