Neighborhood Villages launches the Action Fund
Latoya Gayle, senior director of advocacy of Neighborhood Villages, is part of the creation of an action fund to allow the organization to partner with the Common Start Coalition, lobbying for the Common Start bill to provide more funding to early childhood care organizations. Being a librarian these days goes beyond wandering among stocked books and beyond the library walls. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Children's Librarians across Boston Public Library neighborhood branches have dedicated their time and efforts to creating an outlet for children and families to come together for book readings, songs and activities focused on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) with Children's Mental Health Storytimes

Mental Health Committee Tonight!
Monday, November 22nd 5:30-7pm
The Mental Health Committee is community-led and aims to be diverse in ethnic, cultural, and professional backgrounds as well as in education, age, and experience. We bring our strengths together to actively listen to, learn from, engage with, and transform our community to destigmatize mental illness and promote positive mental health and well-being. Through providing opportunities to belong, access to resources, and education, we will help to create a beloved, safe, and resilient community.

Using Hip-Hop to Understand Substance Use and Promote Wellness with Black Youth

This is a virtual workshop sponsored by the MA Department of Public Health aimed at identifying historical trauma, systemic racism, and mental health outcomes, as well as discover a toolkit of multimedia prompts to help facilitate discussion with Black youth on substance misuse prevention.

Connections and Healing:

The Wellness Idea Bank is a comprehensive and community-driven guide for those in the Greater Boston Area that helps collect events, ideas, and resources for supporting wellness and social connections. This seasonal edition highlights resources focused on the transition back to school for families.

The Multicultural Mental Health Directory offers linguistically and culturally appropriate mental health and related services for communities of color, LGBTQ community, immigrants, and refugees.

The Community Advocacy Program provides support to survivors of intimate partner violence remotely; carefully and safely providing crisis intervention, safety planning guidance, emotional support, referrals to community resources and advocacy via hotline. Boston Children’s Museum Sign-Up for Weekly Activity Emails to receive fun activities you can use to enrich and support children at home, as well as articles and podcasts.

Healthy Families Massachusetts, a family support program proven to reduce child abuse and neglect, has expanded access for first-time parents 23 years old and younger beginning in pregnancy.

The Jeremiah Program, a 12-week empowerment and leadership course that aims to disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children, two generations at a time.


New Toolkit for Pregnant People and New Parents, resources and tools by the CDC to help pregnant and recently pregnant people, breastfeeding people and new parents caring for infants protect their health and help people who serve these communities communicate with them.

Explore data related to voting rates across the United States
Policies have the power to support families during hard times. Eviction filings in Boston, MA have fallen sharply since eviction proceedings were suspended across Massachusetts on March 17. A subsequent national moratorium enacted by the CDC halted evictions temporarily. Compared to equivalent periods in previous years (2012–2013, 2015–2016), eviction filings fell far below average beginning in April 2020, though filings rose modestly in November 2020 after the state moratorium expired.

The City of Boston enacted new protections in late-August 2021, prohibiting landlords and owners from serving or enforcing residential evictions, except in cases of serious lease violations or health and safety issues. These policies can be a lifeline for many families by supporting safe and stable housing as the pandemic continues. Eviction Lab researched and created the graphic below.
